Mind of Doll was formed by four dudes from Vantaa, for being the alternative to kicking walls and pissing into corners. You can smell the stuffiness of rock clubs just by looking at the Doll's attitude, in the background you can hear echoes of some growling and howling alleycats and stray dogs, but it all will be mercilessly run over by the evilish rock'n'roll roaming of the Dolls. Low life heroes are back!

While listening to their in November 2007 released debut album "Low Life Heroes" memories of Mötley Crüe and Guns'n'Roses admix in my head with Hardcore Superstar and Backyard Babies. The Dolls themsleves discribe their influences with The Hellacopters, Smack, Backyard Babies, Ramones, Hanoi Rocks and Motörhead.
The guitar accentuated sound suits singer Visa's raw voice excellent. He doesn't only find the right pitches but has something to say as well - about the low-live of a hero.
From party hits -at least for friends of rocky glammy metal- to a contemplative ballad the four guys from Vantaa show what they are able for. This CD doesn't become boring, and every time you are listening to it you find something new.
It's not so easy to discribe a CD, you like more with every listen. Let's maybe say it like this: Low Life Heroes wasn't love of the first listen to me, but there was something fetching, that I couldn't dump it out of the player. With every rotation it becomes better and better.

Mind of Doll, das sind vier Jungs aus Vantaa / Finnland, die etwas anderes wollen als die Wände hochgehen oder in die Ecke pinkeln. Du kannst das miefige Aroma der Rockclubs förmlich riechen, wenn du dir die Jungs nur ansiehst, und hörst im Hintergrund die Straßenköter jaulen und streunende Katzen fauchen. Und dann walzen dich die Dolls gnadenlos mit ihrem bösartigen Rock'n'Roll nieder.

Auf ihrem im November 2007 erschienen Debütalbum "Low Life Heroes" vermischen sich Erinnerungen an Mötley Crüe und Guns'n'Roses mit Hardcore Superstar und Backyard Babies- wobei die Dolls selbst ihre Einflüsse mit The Hellacopters, Smack, Backyard Babies, Ramones, Hanoi Rocks und Motörhead angeben.
Der gitarrenbetonte Sound passt hervorragend zu der rauen Stimme von Sänger Visa, die nicht nur die richtigen Tonlagen findet, sondern auch in Worten das eine oder andere zu sagen hat - über das zwielichtige Leben eines Helden.
Von Partyhits -jedenfalls für die Freunde von rockig glammigen Metal- bis hin zu nachdenklichen Balladen beweisen die Herren aus Vantaa, was sie zu bieten haben. Dadurch wird die CD nicht langweilig, denn es gibt bei jedem Hören etwas Neues zu entdecken.
Es ist schwer, eine CD zu beschreiben, die man mit jedem Mal Hören mehr ins Herz schließt - vielleicht sollte ich es so ausdrücken: Low Life Heros war für mich keine Liebe auf den ersten Ton, aber dennoch ging etwas Fesselndes von dieser CD aus, dass ich sie nicht so schnell wieder aus dem Player heraus nehmen wollte. Und mit jeder weiteren Umdrehung verdient sie sich mehr Berechtigung.
Ein gelungenes Debüt.
