If indeed "haste makes waste" and the longer it takes, the better - well, so this CD already deserves the label "ingenious", for being recorded back in 2006 and after many troubles only now reaching the German market (check e.g. futilemusic.org).
But also after listening to it you are tempted to use this adjective above. Gloomy, melancholic and sinister but still so very melodic, tenacious ear candy, a bright clear male voice combined with evil growls... does that sound somehow familiar? Yes indeed, Dawn Of Solace is a side project of Before The Dawn Mastermind Tuomas Saukkonen, where also BTD basser/vocalist Lars Eikind (voc) and BTD guitarist Juho Räihä (dr, git, b) are participating. In addition Aleksanteri Kuosa contributed acoustic / lead guitars, keyboards, vocals and Jukka Salovaara guitar and vocal parts.
Although Tuomas strongly opposes the label "Gothic" for Before The Dawn, it might fit Dawn Of Solace nicely. DOS is the somewhat "softer", more melancholic twin of BTD. Mysterious, atmospheric, bitter-sweet acoustic parts mixed with Lord-Have-Mercy Doom Riffs, e.g. the one of "Wings Of Darkness Attached On The Children Of The Light" (would be a good candidate for "longest song title", too) and hypnotic vocal tunes. No matter if Metalhead or Goth, you´ll find ear candy like "I Was Never There" or "Dead Air" simply irresistable, and those songs won´t lose their appeal, no matter if you listen to this album over and over again. DOS is highly addictive - a timeless jewel that should immediately be added to any well-assorted CD collection!

Wenn es stimmt mit "gut Ding braucht Weile", dann verdient dieses Werk schon mal das Urteil "genial"... da bereits 2006 aufgenommen wurde und nach zahllosen Problemen erst jetzt am deutschen Markt erhältlich ist (siehe u. a. www.futilemusic.org).

Aber auch beim Reinhören drängt sich das bereits genannte Adjektiv auf: Zäh, melancholisch-düster, aber dennoch hochmelodisch, mit harnäckigem Ohrwurmfaktor, eine glockenhelle klare (männliche) Gesangsstimme kombiniert mit Growls... wem da nun etwas bekannt vorkommt: Dawn of Solace ist ein Nebenprojekt von Before The Dawn-Mastermind Tuomas Saukkonen. Vom BTD Line-Up mischen noch Lars Eikind (klare Stimme), Juho Räihä (dr, git, b) mit, dazu noch Aleksanteri Kuosa (akustische und Leadgitarre, Keyboards, Vocals) und Jukka Salovaara (git, voc).
Wenn sich Tuomas in Bezug auf Before The Dawn gegen das Label "Gothic" zur Wehr setzt, hier bei Dawn Of Solace passt es ganz gut. DOS ist der "softere" melancholischere Zwilling von BTD: Mysteriös-atmosphärisch, bittersüsse Akustik-Parts, gemischt mit zum Niederknien geilen doomlastigen Riffs, wie das von "Wings Of Darkness Attached On The Children Of The Light" (wäre außerdem ein Anwärter auf "längster Songtitel"...), und hypnotischen Gesangsmelodien. Unwiderstehliche Ohrwürmer wie "I Was Never There" oder "Dead Air" können Metalheads und Goths gleichermaßen begeistern und verlieren auch nach dem x-ten Anhören nichts von ihrem Reiz. DOS macht gnadenlos süchtig - kurz, eine zeitlose Perle, die in keiner gut sortierten Sammlung fehlen sollte!
